I guess I'm just lazy. I need a mind extractor... kind of like a memory card, so that I can just upload it into blog-format. If anyone could invent this... I am very excited for the two of them. Jay has really been putting in a lot of time and effort for this past weekend. I am glad that everything worked out perfectly. I still remember all the late nights that I would have to leave Jay from so he can continue to do research on diamonds and settings. That Jay is pretty sneaky... in a good way, of course.

Right before I went to bed, I said good-night to them both... then I came back out to say, "Hi, this is my friend, Jay, and his fiance, Cicely." How crazy is that? It just goes to show you that it's about that time... fo' meywage... and weddings.. and all that other good stuff. I knew that it was already time, but now that more of my friends are getting engaged/married... it's really something to think about. I am genuinely happy for them both... just watch out for the 12th of July as your wedding date.

Anyways, for those who care, I have a new camera... it's a Canon SD630.. or something. So, I guess this means that I too shall be joining amongst my Flickr friends and start posting pics... hopefully, more than I update this bad boy.

Note to self and friends..

I am Supervisor today..!!

okay.. that's it... ohh.. and there are different types of pads and tampons..!!

Tadahhhhhhhhh..!! ba dum pahh..!!!

Why Jovan.. why..?

Mud run training sucks..!!

Well, it doesn't really suck, but I am just tired all the time. I am running less (2 to 3 miles), but I feel really exhausted. Lately, when I go to the gym, I've been putting the incline up... ranging from 7.0 to 13.0. Also, my pace is around a 5.0 to 7.0, depending how steep I am... or how I am feeling. Let me tell you this, I am just about done after 20 - 25 minutes. Three miles is a struggle... and I am just hoping that things get better. The end.

Well, I also have been trying to lift some weights to help out with the mud run. For those of you that don't know what I am talking about, I signed up with some friends (Jay, Cicely, Belle, and Lou) to do the Camp Pendleton Mud Run. This should be a lot of fun... it's just that my lack of motivation is trying to get the best of me. I will try my best to work on the preparation for the race.

Anyways, I haven't really been up to much lately. I attended a wedding the other week (Fred and Nahal)... Congratulations..!! Weddings are fun. Additionally, I have two wedding magnets up on my fridge. Well, my brain is fried with work... and I am about to go bed..

See ya when I see ya..!!

Sherwin..!!

Man... I usually just fall asleep and wake up around Wilshire. I thought that it was weird, but everything should hold some type of meaning, right...?even keychains..??

I had a dream about keychains. I saw five different types of keychains at a store, I guess... and they seems to be aligned in an order from good to bad. Here's the thing. It was like a cartoon. The bad keychains were trying to bite the hands that were looking at them... bad ones, like I said, were in a type of order where the further along you went with the keychains, the more violent or active the keychain. The ones in the middle would kind of nibble, or move around a little bit, but the one on the end looke like it was about to fall off the hanger.

Then, after I started looking back to the beginning where the "good" (left-most) keychain was, guess what I saw. I saw a flower hanging by the chain. I guess they all were supposed to be a type of flower, but the only one that looked distinctly like a flower was the left-most one. The other ones seemed to lose their color a bit. A little here.. a little there.. Anyways, there was a smug look on the face of the flower (like a cartoon), and it didn't move... it just hung there..

What does the good keychain have to do to be seen as "good?" Well, in this dream... it didn't have to do anything. But the funniest thing about the whole dream was that nobody wanted the "good" keychain. That one was hardly even touched. The first one that was purchased was the one in the middle... and then, I woke up.

I don't know where I am going with this... so, I'll just leave it at that...

And so, my Thursday begins...

April showers bring May flowers..

Low clouds today... nice and wet all day. I figured that blogging would be a great way to pass time before I engulf myself in a solid workout at LA Fitness. Jay just hooked it up with some special recipe of his... chicken sinagang. MmmMMmMm..

So, it's been awhile. I never even posted about the Marathon. Well, for those that wish to know, and for the sake of remembering, I etched in a time of 4:18 and some odd seconds. One day I'll get under four hours and be able to say that I ran a sub-4 marathon... one day. Other than that, I was quite happy with my time. Each and everything that you do is a learning experience. I am now a firm believer of that.

I had to do a speech today for Toastmasters. I haven't done one in such a long time (just like a real blog), so I decided about a week ago to let them know that I wished to speak for the next meeting. It wasn't until today that I was able to figure out how everything was going to be put together. At work, my claim to fame is the marathon, or the marathons that I ran. So, I already knew that I had to talk about that. But I wanted to add something else... women. Perfect. The element that I needed to add a little more spice to my speech.

In the last hour before the start of the meeting, I had to decide on what type of speech I was going to give (yeah.. I know.. but, to some extent, procrastination is an art form), and I finally decided on the power of persuasion. It turned out to be my best speech to date. And, I also got the ribbon that I have been longing for since I joined the club... the Best Speaker ribbon. I almost had the Toastmaster in tears... shoot, I almost had myself in tears. So, for your viewing pleasures... and for mine, I will... ahhhhhhhh.. join a club... hehehheh.

Anyways, I guess that's it. The power of persuasion. Find your passion, run your own marathon... if you are shy, 'un-shy' yourself. Take the necessary steps to... Man... I am bad (_I_)..!!

To life. And to April Showers... Things always get better after the stormy weather.
Pass over the sadness, and accept the gladness.

Title of my speech: Marathons and Women

Saltine Crackers

if you haven't had one in a while... have one..

Am I down..

for a triathlon..??

Well, maybe after some training.. and a bunch of money for a bike.. then.. yah..!! Revised

This weekend was a blast. I didn’t even think of it as “Black Hawk Down.” I actually am quite happy that my friend, Mr. Alden Velez, Jr., is moving on to that next chapter in his life.

From the moment I started to put on my tux to the time I finally closed my eyes for sleep, I was more than content. I need to write this stuff down so that I won’t forget:

Invisible wall

Invisible rock

Invisible door

Lou taking pictures all over the place at the church

The pianist and singer… awesome..!!

Alden and Adriana… how could that not be in here

Limo

Jeff’s nasty camera

Jeff’s nas… err.. umm.. wonderful best man’s speech. j/k Jeff

FOOD..!! yummm

FOOD..!! yeah..

Mark dancing with Alden for the money dance

Mark and Jovan dancing with Alden for the money dance.. hehe

Lou spinning all over the floor with the pose at the end..

Just having fun all night long with some great friends

There’s just too much to write. It’s times like these that help to make reflections on your past more meaningful. You can see vivid pictures of … how do I say this… easier times when the only thing we had to worry about was dividing with decimals… fractions… different types of rocks (i.e. igneous rocks, sedimentary.. ehhh..)… learning the “running man.” Nowadays, it’s bills, bills… work… credit cards… loans… paying for rent.. paying for a house… buying a house… wedding rings.. other things..

See how much life has changed..??!?! That’s it. I’m going to work on LCD and reciprocals when I get home.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jovaniglesias.blogspot.com/2006/02/black-hawk-down-revised.html' title='Black Hawk Down... He was a good bachelor. We have had some good times. I have watched him grow from a little boy... into a great young man. I have known him all my life, and I am very happy that he will be moving on to that next chapter in his life.

Alden Velez, Jr.

So sa.. happy... I am sooo happy for you...

The big day for my friend will be Saturday, February 4, 2006. He shall be joining his life with the lovely Adriana (A.D.) in just one more day. We just had rehearsal yesterday, and one of the best parts about yesterday... other than leaving work early... or.. playing a quick game of Warcraft.. or.. meeting my wedding partner, Valerie... was eating at this place called Mario's. The food there was really good. I hope to go back there some time. It's up there with Jay's adobo... MmMmm...

Man, now I don't even want to eat oatmeal.

Well everyone... Uncle Jo-Jo just wanted to let everyone know that he will try his best to take the path of the bachelor in the events that he frequents for the year of 2006. He will ensure the livelihood among his fellow bachelors is vigorous, and tenacious... and umm.. resilient to all situations... and possibilities.

To arms young bachelors... to arms... and prepare for the weekend...!!!

Asparagus piss

Yes, I skipped out on my 4-miler to eat with the family. I was good though. My brother and his lovely wife, Danita, had prepared dinner for my family. I had grilled salmon with vegetables... con asparagus. It was good last night... but now, at work ... is that everso familiar scent of asparagus piss... there has to be some type of science to this, I'm tellin' you. Good thing I only eat this every so often.

I must now indulge on some water to cleanse my temple. And... By the way, I like this show. Okay, anyways, before I was to retire to my room, I decided to watch a little news. And what is the type of news that comes up? Let me give you some stories:

Asian ladies busted for having a brothel in Yorba Linda

Journalist held hostage in Iraq. Terrorist

Finger-in-chili girl sentenced to nine years in prison

High speed chase where man steals 3 cars... finally reallly crashed and was arrested

Another high speed chase in Houston; head-on collison because man was driving on the wrong side of the highway... inside the car was a lady and a baby... rushed to hospital

Car in Hawaii submerged underwater. 911 call. Saved girl driver, but grandfather died

Boyfriend stabs girlfriend 12 times... kills her... then drives off... covers himself up with gasoline in his car... and lights himself on fire. He is in critical condition at some USC hospital. The knife was in the car. If he makes it alive, he will be charged for murder.

And that was the news. I was just about to get into "Beauty and the Geek" for a blog, but this kind of took over my brain. It's pretty sad to know that all of these things happen. All that kept running through my mind while I was watching was that Jack Johnson line,

"Why don't the newscasters cry when they read about people who die. At least they could be decent enough to put just a tear in their eyes."

Then, I started thinking again, and figured that it's their job... and maybe they just got used to scandals, deaths... kidnapping... etcetera. Then, a few minutes later, I found myself reading my book in my room reading Harry Potter as if it was just a bad dream. I guess newscasters aren't the only ones.

Am I boring..??

All that's really on my mind at this time... well, other than work.. is running. I think I have a serious problem.

Wait, their was a glimpse of hope when I saw this. But that's besides the point. The depths of my thoughts have barely scratched the surface... on anything. I feel thick-skinned... like a Grunt in Warcraft III. Ohh man..!!!

Anyways, I just looked at my training schedule, and it's hard to believe that I'm about half-way done with my training for the marathon. And... I just looked at my training schedule, and this is going to be a long week of running. The total for the week says... 41 miles. But yesterday, I ran 11 miles (usually cross-training day, but ran 11 because that was supposed to be my Sunday run... lazy Sunday.. ehh). So at this rate... I think my legs are going to fall off. Here is my schedule:

Monday: 11

Tuesday: 4

Wednesday: 8

Thursday: 4

Friday: rest

Saturday: 8

Sunday: 17

Total for week: 52 miles..!!!

See what happens when you put a Sunday run on a Monday... I really have to figure out a way to complete my week, yet not not miss out on miles. I think I am going chop a little bit off on my Saturday run (maybe 4 or 5 miles) so that I can still keep it under 50 miles for the week.

FYI... Week starts on Monday.

Okay, I feel better now. See the dilemnas that I have to go through. My brain needs some mo' stimulation. "Back to werk." heheh...

88.1 ain't so bad.

So, I have a routine again. Back to waking up early. Back to doing work. Back to staring at my lovely monitor.

After having such a horrible weather week, it actually looks good today. I'd say 79 degrees with a slight Northeast breeze at 10-12 mph.

My brain is pretty numb now. Since Jevon's out of the office (Las Vegas for personal business), there's not much to do around here. My other co-worker is leaving soon, so I'm in a little rut here at work. I was already getting used to waking up to the sound of birds... or the sun hitting my drapes.. or naughty cats being naughty in a really naughty way. And now, here I am... not tired, of course, due to the excessive amount of sleep that I was able to have during my break. I already miss you soo much Mrs. Break.

As for the marathon training, I am way behind on my long runs. I should have done a 14-mile run over the weekend. What did I do.?? A 5 1/2 mile run. And the week prior (Christmas weekend), I don't think I ran at all. Or did I..?? Jay, please verify. Oh well, just have to make up some ground over the week. My legs still feel okay. I think it's because I'm not covering the projected amount of miles needed for the week.

As for the New Year... Right..??

Anyways, so I guess there's gonna be something at the house today. It should be pretty fun, I guess..? heheh.. I KNOW it's gonna be fun. I haven't seen a lot of friends in a while so... it should be really cool to see everyone together again (during the Warcraft intermissions.. heheh).

You know what's great..?? Finishing just about all of your gift wrapping and getting in bed by 10PM. I KNEW that I was going to have a long day today so I thought that it would be in my best interest to knock out early.

Well, I guess that's it. Yesterday, I ran 5 miles... but at a quick pace. So today, I was feeling a little sore... my lower back was acting up. I put on two Salonpas patches, and everthing is all better now. I think the feeling is quite addicting. It might even be better than the Nicotin patches..!! I wouldn't know. But anyways, the LA Marathon is comin up, and these runs are starting to engulf my life again. Today I have a 3-mile run in the schedule which should take 15 minutes... hehehe.. just checking if you're reading. It should take 21-24 minutes. I'm around the 7-8 min/mile for the shorter runs.

That's it for now. That place it out of control. If you think people dress up to go to the club, then you haven't been to SouthCoast Plaza lately. I felt like I need to put on some dress shoes and a button-up. But anyways, this place was PACKED with hot women. They are everywhere... eating, shopping, sitting, standing, walking... the list goes on. Let me recap some hot spots that I went to:

Banana Republic - hot women

Gucci - hot older women

Louis Vuitton - hot women, hot older women, hot workers

Express - hot women.. Girl's Express is right next door

Ohh, BTW... I am going to these stores because I am walking around with Danny and Michelle... and they spend big money. Nicole Richie was at there for a book signing... okay, that was random.

So, for those of you that think that you need to go to the club to see some women... sleep early, save some money on drinks... and spend some of that hard-earned cash shopping.

**Disclaimer: This blog was not written to promote South Coast Plaza, or the women who shop there. Soul, good beat... soul... Speaking of soul... or that of the soul... (I amaze myself sometimes.. hehe)

I forgot to write about what I wanted on Sunday... just until right now. So, here it goes. So, I went to church... and the Gospel was about a master and his three servants. Here's the story in a nutshell:

Master gives each talents (money or something).

1st Servant - 5 talents

2nd Servant - 2 talents

3rd Servant - 1 talent

He tells each to do something with what he gave them, and he will check on them after some time to see what they did with the talents. Master comes back... and says, "What up, yo..?"

1st Servant - Doubles up... now has 10 talents. "Good stuff, servant. For your good work, I'll put you in charge of a big project in the fields."

2nd Servant - Doubles up... now has 4 talents.
"That's what I'm talkin' about, servant. For your good work, you will head another big project in the fields."

3rd Servant - Remains the same... still has 1 talent; ends up that he dug the talent into the ground because he feared that he would lose the only talent that he had. "WTF, servant. You lazy bum... Why didn't you do anything?? For your laziness, I am going to get that talent back and give it to the first guy. Now, get outta my face."

The End. No, seriously. Okay... maybe not. After that happened, I was like now what..?? I know I heard the story before, but I never really got it... well, "got it" in terms of the explanation. To my knowledge, the point of the story is to make use of all of your "talents" that you have, and to share it with others when you can. Seriously.

He also said... those that share their time for the enrichment of others... will in turn be enriched. I thought that was pretty cool. A lot of the times, I don't feel like helping anybody.

So, moral of the story: Don't be lazy... and helping others helps you..!!

Okay... the end.

Don't you just love pictures..!!

So, I have a new roommate... no no.. not her (d'oh.!!)... but Mr. Michigan himself. Another day older, and deeper in debt.. congratulations..!!

I am finally done with the wedding and slide show, and now it's off to my new venture... the marathon. I really love the marathon season due to the fact that it's around all the holidays. I just registered today, so I really don't have a reason to run it in March. Training starts on November 14 officially, so I have a little bit of time to make sure that everything is in order with my body. I have been doing some small runs here and there, but there's nothing like getting back into the swing of things.

Just in case you wanted to know, my brother got me a watch as a gift for being the best man for his wedding. Some type of Timex watch which could measure your speed and distance. It hooks up to this GPS monitor which you wear around your arm so that you could find out how fast your going, as well as the distance. too bad the GPS couldn't be inside the watch... that would be a big, funny looking watch..!! But anyways, I think it's the best thing ever made..!! I really can't wait until the marathon training gets into full swing. Team... get ready..

Other than that, I guess if you're bored and want to look at some wedding pictures in Chi-town... here you go. Just sign up and look up Danita.

Wedding update... I rocked the house with my best man's speech.. Thank you, Toastmasters... and topped it with the video montage. I now have customers...!! Woo-hoo..!!

Wow... There's a lot of links today. I would put a link to the watch, but I didn't want to see the price. Thanks, Ku..

Last link. How to carve a pumpkin. One thing that I can say about Pechanga is that there's a bunch of women there. I was expecting people my parent's age (there were those, of course), but I am saying that there was a bunch of women there. I really kept turning my head to look while I was playing Blackjack. I lost, by the way, but I had a good time. There was a point where I was up over $200; this was when I was really happy... winning money, turning my head, tipping the dealer... and so on and so on. I even bought my mamma and pappa dinner... and gave my momma a black chip (that's $100 to the non-gamblers) because she was down $80. She said that she's hook me up with my dry-cleaning. What a gal..!!

Anyways, let me do a recap of my night.

It's about 930. From the very start I was up. It felt so good. When I'm up, I get pretty OA (i.e. high-fives all around, talking to the suit people that say "Go ahead" after the dealer says, "Change 100", $5 tips every hand, it was crazy...). Her name was Nok. I think she was flirting with me.She really hooked it up. Anyways, now it's around 1100, and I'm up $250-275. We took a dinner break (I know, I know, running buddies; I'm so bad.), and were set to go home. Now, would you really go home..?? That's what I said... so I went back to the tables. This time around I went to this girl names Elaina (berry cute... I should've known better). She tore me up. 20s, 19s, and the occasional 21s. I went dealer shopping to make up for all the money I lost with Elaina, but it was no good. I couldn't fight off the bad draws. It happens though. We all draw bad cards every so often, right..?? At the end of the night 0230, down $50. Not bad. Things could've been a lot worse... and watching drunk girls in hoochie outfits didn't hurt either.

Moral of the story: Never trust a cute girl that says she's been generous all night..??!? Nooo... that's not it. An oldie, but goodie: Quit while you're ahead.

Beatles and Stress...??!?!?

Song of my night: Maroon 5 - Sweetest Goodbye

Now that... is a jam. Anyways, trying to learn songs on the piano have created stress with my brain... and they say that it's a stress reliever. Two words: Bahala na..!! I just had to let this out because:

I want to stay at least a little productive

haven't blogged in a while

don't feel like slide showing it tonight

Well, I haven't really been thinking of anything juicy lately. Just been contemplating ideas for the slide show of my brother. I did run today... 5 miles in 45 minutes (those are 9 minute miles, people). I guess I had some stressors creating stress... which leads to my topic of the night... stress.

I am not really that good with stress. I was really bad until someone told me a little secret that I would like to share with you. Here we go... On a scale of 1-10... How do you handle stress?

Everyone is different. Some like to tackle 10s... some 7s... I said 6s just because I really hate stressful situations... and I like keeping things in perspective. But, what if you had to take on a big, fat 10... Example:

Getting a D on a report card (nerdos..!!)

You owe $14 more for rent or we're kicking you out. (You need money)

Where's my child support..?? (Hence, you have a kid, dodo..)

You got a flat tire.

You broke up with your boyfriend/girlfriend.

You didn't get the job that was going to pay for that missing $14 for rent.

Okay, maybe this is a little bit overboard, but let's say this was on your plate and you had to take care of this. Sounds like a 10 to me. Basically, the situation is a 10... BUT... its just a bunch of 1's to 5's... So, moral of the story: Break it down. Turn that 10 into 5+2+1+1+1. Put things into perspective and take care of those things we call stressors. Okay... that's all..

Umm.. I finally got he baby pictures for my brother last week... so now I am just trying to map everything out to ensure a quality slide show. Brain... don't let me down... we can work it out..!!

**************************************************
"Live is very short and there's no time for fussin' and fighting, my friend.
I have always thought that it's a crime so I will ask you once again...

Try to see it my way.
Only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong.
I want to see it your way.
There's a chance that we might fall apart before too long.

We can work it out. We can work it out."

-Beatles

Scream at the .. Being a nerdo with Excel and Access are great ways to fill my time, but how cool would this be..!!

I remember when I was in high school... being the school DJ... Samoan parties on the side... yada yada... I had so much fun... A great way to spend my time. It felt like my dream job. Now, my dream job has become a distant... distant hobby...

I wonder how many people really love their job... and I wonder how many people just kind of walked into their job. What about people who go into the medical field for the money? That's one thing that I told myself I would never do... work in the medical field. "It's a stable job, and there's a lot of money in there. You can make a lot of money with the overtime." There is one thing that I do like about the medical field... those that are lucky enough to work 3 twelve hour shifts. That would be a great schedule. If I am offending anyone, I apologize. This is just built up frustration of dinner conversations that are all about the medical field.

Dad - Radiology Tech

Mom - Nurse

Ku - Respiratory Tech/Nurse-to-Be

Ku's Fiance - Opthalmologist-to-Be (she still gets mail with M.D. tho)

I guess what I am trying to get at is... I am the Black Sheep.. rebelling against my true fate: the medical field.. No, that's not my point. My point is "What truly moves people??" Taking x-rays of people. Giving people parking tickets. Being the clown at a rodeo. Actually, to be honest, I think that rodeo clowns really love their job the most amongst the 3 listed. A lot of pride in their craft. Carpenters. Artists. What am I talking about.?? What is anyone talking about..??

'Welcome to the real world... they said to me.' Anyways, I do want to give it up to the cartoon lady lucky enough to play records all day. She is, in my opinion, one to be envied.

What a negative blog..!! Kinda sounds like the news on TV. It's good though... you learn a lot more when everything's all jacked up, rather than when everything is perfect... just more to learn from.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jovaniglesias.blogspot.com/2005/09/scream-at-top-of-my-lungs.html' title='Scream at the .. They haven't really moved me, and in turn, caused a numerous amount of outlandish fluff to fill my page. I am talking about content... I want to be able to take a more positive perspective of containing my current thoughts in this page at this moment in time without thinking that I am wasting my time. That's how I've been feeling whenever I think about writing up a blog; This feeling hasn't left me for over a month or so. It bugs me to know that my lack of focus has put me in this unorganized whirlwind. Stuff to do here... stuff to do there... forgetting my priorities and list of tasks to accomplish. When there is no focus... panic is sure to follow. Right now, I have a splash of panic, and a pinch of stress.

So... instead of feeling flustered with myself... I am going to take the bull by the horns, and get my mind in mental shape. Let me tell you a little something that someone spoke about in ToastMasters. This lady devised up a way to "not sweat the small stuff." It's just a better way to organize tasks that you have to take care of. Most of us have a list of tasks to do. I think these are very helpful, but still... the list can be overwhelming. I don't know how many of you do this, or have some type of derivative of this... but the next step is what turned my head.

Separate the list of tasks into 3 sections:

Important

Kind of Important

Backburner

She said that you can separate it however you want... highlighter, different pen color... use anything, but just remember to separate it. This helps to prioritize things that need your immediate attention (i.e. long overdue blog) and what to set aside for later (i.e. everything dealing with my brother's wedding)... just kidding Ku... I am diligently working on your slide show.

So, that's my little two cents for tonight. It's good to write something that could help out another unorganized whirlwind... until your presence becomes my present.

Almost Friday... people...

*chug-a-chug.. chug-a-chug..*
(sounds of a train from San Diego going to Texas)
Keep on "chugging" away.

Don't you just love Fridays...?

Well, it's that time of the week again. If you woke up tomorrow morning and you were the opposite gender, what would be the first thing you'd do? Shave... better yet... Nair... cuz I'm a freak like that.?!?

02. If you could be invisible for a whole day, what would you do? Go up to girls and say... "Shhh... it's me Casper.."

03. If you could completely get rid of one fashion trend that you personally don't like, what would it be? Engagement rings. I could do with the 100-200 dollar wedding band, but all the money for the engagement ring... ehhh... How could you put a price... on love, right..? I'm just saying this because I am in debt. Ohh... string ties and whips... wait, I like whips...

04. If you could dye your hair ANY color, what color would you choose? Umm... Lavender... to match the color of my eyes.

05. If you could look like any celebrity, who would you choose and why? ehh.. Steven from Laguna Beach (he's a celebrity.. right??) because I would be dating Kristin... ahh... to be young again... ='(
BTW... LC is wack..!!

06. If you could spend one hour with ANYONE, (alive or dead) who would it be, and why? It would really be a toss-up between Jesus Christ and Judas Iscariot. Jesus because "He's the Man.." He probably has a lot of interesting thoughts and ideas. Judas because I just would want to know what was going through his head... He's probably in some deep doo-doo as we speak..!!

07. If you won a million dollars in the lottery, what would you do with the money? Invest and save, so that I can become a househusband..!!

08. If you could tell one person ANYTHING, what would it be, and who would it be? One person.. whoa.. that's really hard... I would have to say... my Papang (mom's father) or my brother's close friend Ben (they both passed less than 2 weeks apart). Umm.. Thanks for teaching me how to ride a bike, Papang. Watch over me... please..!! Ben, thanks for being another big brother to me. I miss you both.

09. If you saw your favorite celebrity in the street, what would be your first reaction? Probably just look her in the eye, and give her a hug like she's my homie. If she only knew.. *sigh..

10. If you could change your first name to anything you wanted, what would you change it to? Maybe Jevon.. naw... that name's wack.. hmm.. Volder--.. oops.. My name's okay.. I like hearing all these different ways of saying it, pretty entertaining..

11. What's one feature of your appearance that you absolutely like? My voluptuous lips.. That or my index finger on the right hand. It's pretty cool... a little twisted, but hey... what can you do..??

12. If you were told today that you had only a month to live, what would be all the things you would do, or say before you died? I would have to say travel with family and friends... then... I would go off on a tiny wooden boat and tell Jevon "Legolas" Echave to shoot a fiery arrow at my boat.. and then I would be on a fiery boat... that has fire.

13. If you could change any part of your appearance, what would it be? my uneven ears..

14. If you had your own line of cosmetics, what would you call it, and what kind of products would you make? ehhh.. get that covers white hair... I'd call it, "Gel-erase-white-hair".. or something catchy like that.

15. If you had your own line of underwear, how would you design it? hmmmm... since girls can show a bit of cleavage..annnd be sexy; I don't think there's anything wrong with a little more skin showing for the guys. I'll just leave it at that.. nooo.. wait.. I'd call it "String" Speedos... yah.. now, I'll leave it alone...

16. If you could have one super power, what would it be? It would probably be to a shape changer/shifter... I think that would be really cool... If you had the choice would you rather be Marilyn Monroe for a day, or Madonna? Probably .. Petra Nemcova.

18. Do you believe your dreams have significance? Sometimes... a lot of the times they really don't make any sense.

19. *Total number of films I own on DVD/video: hehhe.. like 5... I am still having trouble trying to keep up with this, along with the everyday stresses of life. For example, Jovan:

wash your clothes

give me money

make a song on the piano

kill some terrorists with me on Rainbow 6

kill some orcs with me in Warcraft

string my guitar

fix your bed

fold your clothes

cut your nails

put song on my iPod

let's go out this weekend

organize your iTunes (hehheeh..)

read up on Toastmasters (oh.. did I tell you.. I am "Sergeant-At-Arms" for TM.. oh yah.!)

organize your next speech

run

send out an e-mail about the BBQ on Saturday (sorry, I blame it in fiscal close.?!?)

water the grass (I really need to look into automatic sprinklers)

do push-ups

update your blog

etcetera, etcetera, etcetera....

I know some things have a higher priority than others (like cutting your nails), but everything is so important to me. There's just not enough hours in the day.. or night. I hate sleep. It takes up so much of my time... oh and traffic too..!!

Well, here is up my update. I just wanted to put that out there because I know that I have some genius friends, and they are able to do almost anything with the computer. I have been working on some stuff, and thought that you would all like to take a look at what I am doing because of the fact that this is soon going to be taking over a good portion of my time. I didn't really do much this weekend. I decided to make it a brainy weekend... just me and my boo, Miss Premiere. She's hot, and she does everything that I tell her.

She blows my mind
She keeps me in line
She's there when I need her
Never changing like time

She helped me learned positions
And helped me with transitions
Rendering pictures with her...
Is my only mission.

Well, until I start doing videos with her.

Okay, that's enough of that. Too much cheese can be bad for the system. So, I'll leave it at that. And as the Peons would say in Warcraft III, "Back t' werk.."

And if you are in Costa Rica... I've just been working on my brother's slide show nowadays. It's coming along well. As of now, I have learned transitions for video and audio. I have started to work on motion which is really fun. This would consist of working with scales, position, rotation, and other good stuff. If anyone wants to get on the Premiere bandwagon, just let me know. I gave it a little bit of thought and came to the only answer... No.. almost doesn't count.

In most cases.. at least the important ones that I've come across in my 25 years of life, the answer is still the same. Here's a couple of examples:

I almost won the race.

I almost got the promotion.

I almost passed the class.

I almost got with her.

I almost got the job.

I almost made the game-winning shot.

Big word to put in front of a verb... never realized how much it impacts a sentence. But anyways, let's stay on topic and think of examples where 'almost' counts. There are times when this does occur, but it's not for issues of high importance. Examples starting now:

I almost finished cleaning my room.

I almost finished drinking the glass of water.

Okay, okay... the reasoning may be a little bit biased to prove my point, but it's true. The important things... the things that stick out in your mind... if there is an 'almost' in front of it, then that just doesn't count. When am I going to say, "There was this one day where I almost finished cleaning my room."

Just my take on it. I'll keep this short because I am 'almost' done with the reports for my supervisor.

Situation that I dislike: Put on dry-cleaned shirt -> cold in the morning -> put on jacket. Take off jacket at work -> wrinkles on dry-cleaned shirt.

Okay, I feel better now that I let that out. To a good week... and to the dreaded adverb... almost.

I'm just sayin'

Where have I been?

Maybe this is some repressed memory, but Arkansas is just like Kansas.. but with an Ar in front of it.

Oh and JoeMama... So, I would like everyone to stop using toilet paper and switch to something more ecological.. like leaves and grass and stuff. I dunno.. Bring back the Ta-boh.!

Okay, I know this is a horrible blog, but every once in awhile we have to pay respect to everyone's favorite girl... Ms. Jessica Alba. The GDL (General Detailed Ledger) was running a bit slow, so I thought I could fit in a little blog.

Training has been great. I'm learning a whole bunch of stuff about expenses and and income, as well as the different accounts and fund numbers that go along with them. It kind of reminds me of Daniel Laruso learning all the different defensive techniques or when things started to make more sense. The scene that came up in my head was the night scene in Karate Kid.

Mr. Miyagi: Show me "Wax on, wax off"
Daniel-san: (making quick circles with hands)
Mr. Miyagi: Ah-tah-tah, Daniel-san.. Wax on.. hee-yahhhh.. Wax off... hee-yahh
Daniel-san: Oh(looking puzzled)

Then it went on to a flurry of punches and kicks which were all defended with crisp, accurate movements made our hero, Daniel Laruso.

I am trying to make some type of point here.

It goes something like this... I guess what I am getting at is that we, well I at least, go through all these motions everyday and I have no idea of what we are doing. For example... Show me "Paint the fence" and "Sand the floor." There's these things I do every day that I just do because that's what they tell me to do. So I do it.

But now, it seems as though things are getting clearer and I am learning the other cool things too. Since I am learning all these new things, I feel like it's putting everything together... like getting ready to defend the punches and kicks of Mr. Miyagi. I don't think that I am ready for the flurry just yet. To be honest, I would still get beat down just as are hero did when he was in his little shower costume.

I do know that I do have the "Wax on, wax off" part down (a.k.a. moving the money received from the sponsors into the correct funds); just waiting for my next assignment.

Quote of the day: "Put 'em in a body bag..!!" -Karate Kid

Done with Class

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am done with my class. My blogs keep being written further and further apart. It's just that the amount of time that I spend on them takes longer than I expect, and there's just so much to do right now.

Anyways, for those that do not know yet... you are now reading the blog of the newest Accountant II at UCLA. Well, not yet. I actually start on Friday, April1st, 2005. And no, this is not an April Fool's joke. I am pretty sure that I will now have a window cube and double the space; major upgrade (too bad there's also an major upgrade in my responsibilities). But enough of that... as I stated before, these facts are put here for the sole purpose of the archive.

What really matters is what goes on in my brain. I had the option of writing about two topics tonight, but for the sake of those that do read my blog, I will pick the route less developed to gain insight to please my soul. Still in queue: Life: the Program.

And the topic tonight... I was talking to a friend of mine one day and was told a quote that I've never heard before. It went something like this:

"When you try to close the door on reality, it comes through the window."

I started laughing about this because of the context in which it was used, but plain and simple... it makes sense. No matter what you do to try and shut things out of your life, they will still be there in some shape or form. Whether it be issues with family, friends, a certain situation... avoiding the inevitable or what I see as the "big door," does not stop the fact that reality is still knocking. You can try your best to shut things, people... reality out of your life, but it will find it's way into your home (mind/soul).

Through writing this short amount of text, I have gained further knowledge in trying to decode this fascinating theory bestowed upon me. Let us go more in detail. In relation to the quote above, I have come to believe that this must be broken into the following: the conscious and the subconscious.

The "door" can be seen as the conscious because of the fact that this is what we see or how our actions play out in dealing with reality. We shut things out in all types of ways(i.e. work, drugs, hobbies, etc.), but the end purpose is to just avoid the situation. Diverting our attention will not change anything. After the chips fall, or the sand settles, "it" will still be there calling your name. This is where the "window" comes into play. This can be seen as the way the subconscious deals with what is really going on. It may not be the subconscious, per se, but the end effect is that "it" still reveals itself to our mind. And if it doesn't at first, then it will find a way sooner or later.

These two (the door and window) can never be separated. They are all part of that one home, that one mind. The difference is their function. So, the difference now can be how we take this in and approach reality. Hopefully, by reading this, we will open the door a little bit more and welcome these situations... the events that are our lives, our reality... good, as well as bad ("bad," in some cases, can still be seen as good... it's all in the eye of the beholder).

Embrace it, my friends. Take inventory of your current reality and make the necessary changes to a create a bigger, better reality for yourself and those close to you. Talk to him or her, especially if they are sick. If not now, then when? Everything starts in the mind and is followed by action(s). Remember that.

That went well.. it still needs some polishing, but it's more developed, understanding-the-quote-wise, than it was before... thanks Ms. Blog.

Until I am again blessed with your presence on a Wednesday night.

I Have Some Good News..!!

the end..

okay.. well, I am going to a surprise birthday party tonight.. I hate midterms. Tricky questions. Must I be average. Okay. I feel better. I think I'm down to a B+ now. Life is hard I tell you. So, now I must focus my attention to my interview... after this blog, of course.

I know... I know. Not a lot of blogs lately. I have just been really busy; trying to put too much on my plate. And now... I am going to try to fit in tutoring. I like being busy. It gives me a sense of accomplishment. I still have to figure out how much I am going to charge. I was thinking 15 dollars since I do know the family. The one that I am tutoring is my brother's friend's(Fred) younger brother... Anthony. He was telling me that his teacher charges 40/hour for tutoring. Check this out. His teacher doesn't even use a book to teach; he just gives them assignments. Basically, he teaches them like crap so that they would need tutoring. Now that is a true hustler.!!

Okay... back to me. Interview. I am at that turning point in my life. You know how people say that. Well, I think I am there.. well, here. Accouting mixed with computer science. That will be the key to my interview. My supervisor said that I really need to figure out what my plans are... and I think that that is what I am going to do. I do see a bright future in the field that I am in, especially with my computer background. I really hope that I stay in my department. I like the situation that I am in, and feel that I can bring a lot to my department if I was to get the position. By that, I mean that I want to continue to progress and learn the core foundations of accounting, but wish to incorporate technology with the present protocols that are currently used.. or something like that. Wish me luck... sorry for cutting it short, but I have to prepare for my interview.

Until the next becomes the present.

L.A. Here I am at work, and I thought that this would be a perfect time to update my blog.

First, here is my time. Nothing hurts more than everything after mile 20. Here are some things that I hope not to forget about the experience:

"Ali... Ali... Ali..!!"

Listening to "I Love L.A." over and over again at the start line

Hairy guy that Christabelle had her eyes on. You should've seen the hair on this guy.

Army guy with full on gear... boots, 20-30 lbs. bag... Crazy..!

"Viva la Mexico..!!" being shouted out about 100-200 times

Losing Christabelle and Biggy. We all have our own race to run. I am sure that they understand. =) Congratulations to you both.!!

Putting vaseline under my arms. Even better, putting vaseline between my legs while people were cheering "Go Jovan, go!" I think it would be quite embarassing in any other case.

People that were trying to say my name, "Keep going Jov...jova...", but gave up and just said.."You're doing great Joe... Keep it up..!"

Guy who was passing out bananas. Looked very unsanitary, but then again... my hands had vaseline on them and I touched my armpits... and I was perusing through my crotch area... how sick is that??

Little kids in pink hats running by me around mile 22.

Buckling knees from about mile 21 until the end of the race.. =\

Monique(random girl from Hermosa that helped me to not stop/walk and chatted with me until the end). Thank you.

Bloody Nipples (that should be a drink name.)

My favorite... getting a cup of water and drinking a little bit of it.. and pouring the rest on my head... like the runners you see on television.

I had a great time. Going through all the different parts of Los Angeles. Seeing different people and different cultures (in the race, as well as outside the race) also helped with creating an awesome experience. I am overjoyed to have been able to have accomplished something that I never expected myself to do. It's amazing what you can do if you put a little bit of focus into it. It came time to when you would have to say "peace be with you" to the other people that were at church. I remember when I was young, I always wanted to sit next to the girls so that at least I'd be able to shake their hands. It would be a real treat when you were near the front or back because you might be able to shake hands with the girls from the other classes. Okay, if I'm the only one, then so be it. It's all about eye contact. To be honest, those thoughts still go through my head every once in a while and bring a smile to my face. I put the blame on girls... well, lack of (in my years at St. Lucy Elementary School, boys-23, girls-9... yeah, good odds, huh?).

To bring this/you back to my principle idea for even writing about this, for some reason when I was going around saying "peace be with you" to everyone around me, it felt a little different. I'm not saying that I never had thoughts about it before, but I am trying to make my subconscious conscious (hence, blogging). When you go around saying "peace be with you," I feel that you are offering a type of companionship saying that whatever it is that may be bringing you down... to let it go and to find peace within yourself. This is then done by everyone around you... which increases it to a type of bond not even between those you know, but those that you don't know as well. I think of it as people are cheering you on (in a serene type of way)... but then on the other side... you are in turn cheering them on (I know.. pretty weird.. but that's my take on it) Yeah, I know, "You Are Not Alone," by Michael Jackson may be running through your head, but I think this is quite important... if you are looking at the bigger picture. We are all different... in an infinite amount of ways... and what it is that we need to do within ourselves before we can actually grow is find that peace. I am hoping to find peace within myself, as well as bring peace to those that consider me as their friend.

For those of you that need it... here's a nice prayer to bring you back that peace...

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

And to all... peace be with you. =)

Goodness, I feel like a 'Chicken Soup for the Soul' book..

just another Saturday.

Back again... not for that long tho. I have to study.. =) but I will give it a little bit of time because I have to wait for my laundry to get into the dryer, so that I can put in another load in the washer.

Just got done running at the gym... a little lifting.

Tomorrow is the big day. 20+ miles in the morning. We are hoping for 22, but we will just have to wait and see. I did a short run today just to make sure that my legs felt good... and they did.

Oh yah, and tomorrow is the SuperBowl: Eagles vs. Patriots.

Just to let you know... as well as myself when this is all in the archive... I stayed in again on Friday. Something about staying in on a Friday is sexy. I'll just leave it at that. I watched 20/20 and LockedUp which was a little disturbing... but in a good way (if that makes any sense at all).

The show on 20/20 was called, "Caught on Tape." This range of this was pretty much everything. Some subjects:

Paris Hilton sex tape

OJ Simpson

Rodney King

America's Funniest Home Videos

Getting certificates for driving school without going the full amount of time

Beheading of Americans

Beheading Hoax (people actually made fake videos, and called it art)

Hidden cameras in the girl's locker room (watch out, ladies..)

Terrorism

One of the closing comments for the show went something like is TV supposed to keep us more informed and understanding of what is going on... or is it just so graphic that it numbs us of what is actually going on in the world?

To me... well before (maybe still now)... I would say that it would numb us (well, me) because we never really thought of how deep things go. For instance, did you know that the father of Nick Berg didn't want any footage to be shown, or for it to even be published..!! With the help of the internet... and the media... it was full blown. It's sad to know about that situation.. and seeing how much I take things for granted. It's also sad to see what people will do for money... imagine those topics full blown... Crazy I tell you.

The second show was called LockedUp. It was a type of documentary in a prison at Statesville, Illinois. Pretty much, the people in here are pretty bad; they are considered to have a low chance of making it out in the "real world." For most of these people, their whole lives are in this prison... some called it their "second home." I just want to say that I hope that I will never be in a situation like that. A guy a year or two older that me has to be in that prison until he is at least in his 40s... and he has a family..!! It's crazy... It really makes you think of how lucky you are being where you are at... being able to make/create your life each and every day. I like it when I have a focused thought; well thought out... covering all the options and going through them... like practice. Practicing what I should/should not do and understanding the repercussions of certain choices. Tangents (I blame it on heredity), however, are my forte. I am a never-ending piece of tangent. I love tangents because when I'm done with my thoughts, or I realized that I am going off on a tangent, I find it very amusing to go back and trace how in the world I got to my ending thought. When I am at point F.. trying to reach point A (probably after two or three good integrations.. calculus nerds.!!), it's just.. how can I put this.. simply amazing..!! Maybe since I have this blogging tool, to put it down, it just seems like I think more. Now before I go off into outerspace with my pointless jibber-jabber... I have a point. Hence, the purpose of this blog.

The way that you feel about others, the way you react to a situation, the way you treat your family, friends, boyfriend/girlfriend... basically, the attributes that make you your unique self are yours. Others may help you get to the outcome... it's called influence... but the ultimate decision is to be made by you. We all have our own lives, and we all make our own decisions. Even when we get married, even though decisions should more or less be shared, you still make decisions. You have a say... your opinion, and more importantly... your actions are what matters most.

I am open to new ideas... stay genuine... and continue to try to grow to be a better person. I try not to bring anyone down... that's the last thing that I would want to do. I am even trying to get along with my co-worker, WG. When and if I do get out of line, it's all in good fun (up to your own interpretation); most of the time, I am just trying to put a smile on your face; nothing serious. I know I may be a tornado at times (by that I mean doing my chaos... and not looking behind to see the mess I created), but like I said before... I am learning. I am trying to make my subconscious... conscious. Hopefully, I will be influencing myself with the thoughts that I am grabbing from my brain.. hopefully, I will be able to talk to someone about these random thoughts that take over my body when I am alone. Hopefully, I will get my book that I need for my class.

Check this out. My class has two books. I received one of them via mail. It turns out the the book that I ordered about 2 weeks ago.. that has yet to present itself at the front doorstep to my house... is the book for the first half of my class. Call it dumb luck... call it karma... I just need... mi libro. Oh, Amazon or post office people.

Okay... well, my point is that it's good to reflect. It's good to wind down on a cup of wine (maybe I do drink too much), and just think. Think about everything; the world, our nation, family, friends... yourself. Keep your mind busy, and not let something (television) do the thinking for you. What am I talking about.? Unorganized fluff.. blah blah blah.. If anything, I did figure something out tonight... I have a new hobby.

There's something about church...

I know I haven't gone to church in awhile, but today I decided to give it a try. I was going to go back to sleep, but I was compelled to make it to 9 o'clock mass. Once I got to the chuch, everything felt natural again. I saw some kids rambling, people dressed up... others not. Of course, looked around and saw a couple Filipinos. Why I notice this... I dunno. Found my spot all by myself, and took a seat.

The Gospel today was about the Beatitudes (my favorites), and he related it to a nice tune that you would carry with you throughout the day. It happens to all of us... for instance, when you hear "Jason Mraz - One Find," you can sing it all day long in your head, hum the melody over and over, and no one can bring you down... this is how the Beatitudes should be.

The music today was awesome. It's always better when the band/choir could jam. Today's hit list:

The Beatitudes song

On Eagle's Wings

Lamb of God

There's something about church that just puts a smile on your face. I don't know what it is... just an intangible feeling of being content... more than content. I think it's a great way to start off the week. and it's not even 11 AM yet..!!
Another pleasant surprise I found at St. Barnabas was Mr. Allan Thomas Valente. I haven't seen him in a while, and it was nice to see a familiar face. It's good to know that everything is going well with him... and I wish him all the best. We caught up over some Jamba Juice, then he had to get ready for a basketball game. One of our topics was about going to Atlanta. Hopefully, we could go to "Hot-lanta" to see Dean and Jeff... well, maybe just Jeff because to my knowledge, Jeff should be the only one there. Vacation spot... anyone? February? Ohh no, can't go in February.. marathon.

The moral of my blog... Make yourself. Do what needs to be done to Make Yourself happy... and.. there's something about church.

Tangents (and Cancers) are cool..!!

Well, I am about to get ready for lil' Jay's party, and decided to write a quick blog since i have some spare time. I just woke up from a well-deserved nap and I feel much better. Had some sushi for lunch... and was out..!!

Another day of running has been accomplished. Today was a crusin' 10 miles. The brave ladies that were able to make the run with me:

Dana (get a grip..)

Christabelle (Lou... we missed you..)

Cicely (Jay.. we missed you.. maybe next week..)

I still am debating what is going to be better for the marathon... mp3 player or no mp3 player. Alden (running sensei) Velez told me not to run with one on because it ruins the rhythm of your breathing. I understand what he was saying because when I hit 7 miles, my mp3 player ran out of battery. At that point I was like, "Aww man, boring time." But after awhile, my breath began to make the beat. Left.. right.. left.. right.. breath in.. breath out.. etc.. I hope I am making sense. Next week I think I will try to run without one to see the difference. I used to run without one, but since we started increasing our distance, I've had headphones in my ears. In any case, I was killing the beach today. I know I am spoiling myself by running at the beach, but if you are going to train, might as well have good scenery. It's kind of funny how you live in an area for so long, but you never really appreciate how dope it is... you just pass everything up in your car and miss out on all the great things that your city has to offer.

Okay... that's all for now. It's time to get ready to meet up with some friends in L.A., and have some fun. Even though I wished you a happy birthday already.. (via cell phone on Sunday) here it is again.. Happy Birthday Jay.!!

To Joseph's I go..!! I think that the steam room really did the trick. It's not a massage, but hey, gotta work with what you have... and steam room... you are all mine... well, me and all the other guys at the gym... oh, steam room, you are such a hoe...

Anyways, I started my class today. It's an online class, but I did post a hello to the class, and told them about my situation. It's pretty cool to see the different types of people taking the class. For instance, some (yah, some) have there master's degrees already in their chosen field, and just want to learn the basics. Others are in the field and just want some formal training. Some are cross training... like trying to mix the medical field with computers... that's pretty cool. I already know that I am going to like the class. One of the main reasons is because I get to learn new languages: C and Visual Basic .Net. I can't wait because it should keep me busy... keep me motivated... and keep me out of trouble.

Well I don't want to write too much... save some for tomorrow. I should be reading up on my class, but I must do this too. It's part of helping me grow, right..? With that, I shall leave this blog with some lyrics from one of the music all-stars that made my list... Jason Mraz..

cuz i.. i believe in love
i still wish on you the stars above.

i believe in love songs
yes, i think that they are real
all you have to do
is feel.

chance missed for getting kissed
i think there's so much more than this
i will... i guess i'll have to hold my breath
and i'll say...

that i believe in faith;
i believe in good things coming to those who wait.
all the anticipation late at night
all my hopes were beginning to fade
when you willed me,
"how will we be?"

this is only one temporary find.
i'm sure before too long
you'll change your mind...
one fine day.

this is only one of a many find.
i'm sure before too long
you're gonna make up your mind...
one fine day.

T.G.I.R.D..

Rest Day..!! According to the Beginner's training program, there should be two rest days per week for your body to recover from the stress on the muscles, joints, etc. My body is still sore from our run on Sunday. There was a total of 4 brave soldiers that made it Sunday morning at 8 in the morn..

Lou (7) ... good job, newbie!

Cicely (14)

Christabelle (16)

Me (16)

If there's one thing that I learned from this experience... don't stop..!!! I think my running style has to be consistency; by that I mean that I can't stop, or else my legs would go into shock. After I ran about 12 miles, I told myself, "I think I need a break; I don't want to overwork my muscles.." I started walking... for an extended period of time. Bad idea.. Muscles started to tighten up and it was really hard to get going again. I think of it as going from 5th gear to 1st gear, then expecting to go back to 5th gear... I need to stay around 4th and 5th to get the best time... and to get the best MilesPerGallon. Believe me, there's proabably a science relating the body to a car in terms of long-distance running.

So, for those of you that wish to run, remember to slow down gradually. I think either way I would've been sore, but I think it would have been a better run if we went into a slower pace, rather than walking.

On the brighter side, it's Tueday..?!??!

At Bongg's place...

NBA Live and my Saturday night. I love the new Jovan that's going on right now. No party party... just chillin out with good ol' Jevon. Nothing like saving money and listening to some good reggae that I shall give Sensei Lavarro tomorrow. Just in case anyone wants to know, my purpose for the sleepover... other than seeing my SigEp bro, Bongg... is to run at Santa Monica at 8 in the morn..!!! Goodness gracious.. that's pretty early.

What's wrong with my URL...?? Bongg is.. well, was making fun of my discreet web address. I thought it was fitting... but then again... I have no originality... so I guess it does fit. Oh well... the power of reggae shall heal my soul.

Why do I drink on the weekends? Freakin' drunkard... I don't think I'm depressed. They say that you drink because you are depressed. I don't think that that is the case. I think of it as... since I am not going out... I should drink. Okay... maybe I drink too much, but as long as I am already where I should be, and this is where I am going to knock out... I should be okay. It makes blogging more fun. Eat, drink and be merry..!! I'm not "New Year's drunk." ahem.. =\ Just enough to put a smile on my face. I don't think there's anything wrong with that. What else am I supposed to do... watch a DVD...!?!?!? C'mon... I need some production... and that shall be through this blog... every experience should not be taken for granted. Even though this blog is being done while I have a mild buzz, there is some good context that should be accounted for.

Tomorrow should be a big day. Everybody and there mamas is going to run. Here is a tentative list of those that should be attending tomorrow's event:

Jovan

Cicely

Lil' Jay

Christabelle

Sensei Lavarro

Dana... get_a_grip

Bongg

Jeanelle

I am just going by what was said to me throughout the week. If someone flakes, that's there problem. Tomorrow's run should consist of a light 15 or so mile run. I already know that some of those listed will not complete the 15, but as long as you are running, then more power to you.

Well, this should be enough to make my day when I do read it in the future... which should be a month from now... a year from now... maybe even 5 years from now. Blogging is now in my life... and it's hard to take it away now that it is here... oh brain, please give me the strength to keep doing this... and to never be empty... like the recycle bin...

The Joy of Friday Nights...

Usually, I would be out and about parusing through this place we call soCal, but I opted to make it a Friday Night filled with school material, new computer, and some wine.

It feels kind of good to be alone that at times I begin to question which I enjoy more: getting drunk with a bunch of friends, or staying in front of this beloved computer of mine. I think that since it is new, this new "stay in on Friday" that I am trying out seems to be more appealing for the time being. I think that it is necessary that we all give time to ourselves. Being involved with everyone else's lives before grounding your own could be unhealthy... Look at me; preaching like I know what I am talking about... but seriously, I am enjoying this time alone... and I hope to do it again in the near future.

Well, just to let everyone know, I ran a bit today, read a little bit to get ready for my UCLA class, and am downloading some stuff that should help me with learning more about VB .net. Now, I am blogging. That was my Friday night... and I loved every minute of it.

ahh... the 'joy' of Friday nights... well, at least this one.

Jam of the Week

Remy Shand - Rocksteady

Just thought I'd share that with everybody because the song is pretty jammin. So, if you don't have it, get on Limewire or something for a quick download. It's one of those songs that can just change your mood from whatever you were in before.

Anyways, here I am on my third day... well night... and I don't think that this is so bad after all. It gives me something to do, somewhere to organize my thoughts, and gives my memory a filing system to help keep track of events, thoughts, feelings, etc.

Just to let everyone know, I am now typing on a keyboard connected to my new computer! Due to the fact that I was having problems with my old computer (long story), mi familia thought that it would be a good idea to surprise me with a new computer. The reason for the sudden need for access to a computer is due to the fact that I am going to start a class at UCLA next week... I am going to try to get a certificate in Systems Analysis which should take about a year and some change. Since it is an online class, having a computer (working computer) seems pretty important for doing well. Honestly, it was a great surprise. In time, I know that I will be paying for it anyways. The best part about it is the flat screen monitor. I've always wanted one since I was in college, and finally... one has landed inside my house. I've been putting mp3s and programs on it for the past hour or so which is making this blog quite comfortable. Hopefully, the issues and content that I put on here will be more compelling, and move me in such a way to alter my opinions and ideals more, but until then I shall just type away aimlessly talking about the random thoughts that bombard my head each and every day.

Well, I guess that's it. TGIAF... His eye is on the sparrow, Remy Shand... and I can't wait to wake up at five in the morning...!!

ter-eh..!! (Sounds like a DJ scratch)

That's why I don't watch television... that much

Well, here I am... Day Two... and the only thing that I could think about for today's blog was what I watched on television yesterday. Just to recap my night... played basketball (we won, but I really should have ran my 5-6 miles), fixed my broken computer, and watched some TV. The show that tripped me out even until this morning is American Idol.

Well, there's this show called American Idol... and it's about singing and becoming a pop star, or something like that. I can't say that I'm really into it, but I was home from basketball, and try-outs were showing on the tube. Very unique show; I can't believe that I, well everybody, can watch something like that. To a point, it seems as though we like watching people not doing good. Watching people perform horribly makes us laugh. I know I know... there was a point when I was chuckling because some guy in all purple (even had purple chucks) with dreads and color eye contacts went on and hit these crazy note... but when I put myself in his purple chucks, I was like this shit really sucks. What really sucks is the fact that the people who make American Idol purposefully put these people through just to try to make people laugh. For instance, my friend Jeff auditioned for the show a year or so ago, and he told me that they do a couple of screenings before putting people through to see Paula, Simon, and Randy. So, it's sad to know that people are put through knowing that they are just going to be made fun of and to get a chuckle or two out of America.

Now, here I am at work, and my co-worker is getting rolled up by my supervisor at this very second. Usually, I would get all happy to see how she would get in trouble by my supervisor. I couldn't wait to talk to Jevon or my other co-workers about it and bring up all of her faults, but that just puts me in that same situation with watching American Idol... laughing at the faults of others... making me look/feel better by putting others down. I try not to be cynical about the situation, but at times I feel like that is in my nature (I blame society). The only thing that I can say now is that I am aware of it... which is better than most people... but "to each their own." -(Jevon.. about a month ago & Christabelle.. Mammoth trip)

so.. this is blogging..

Well, I was getting bored at work and decided to start up a blog. For what reason, I am not really sure, but I think it will be beneficial in the long run. At least it will help me to remember what I've been up to throughout the year.

Where to begin.?? Well, I went to Mammoth for the MLK weekend which turned out to be more fun than I expected. We did so many things... let me see:

sitting on yellow snow... I know I wasn't the only one

11-person train of people trying to get down a mountain... after it was closed

Cicely running into me at about 10.. 24 mph..!! speed demon..

the blessed snow on Sunday.!! I love fresh powder. Thank you Ku and Sherwin for making me go through the trees.

chess shots.. I don't know what else to call it. There should be a rematch.

Catch Phrase..!!! (it's taller than this..!! FIFA... FoFUM..)

Blind Man's Bluff with multiple cards.. =\

I had a great weekend; the only bad thing is that I'm just tired now; which leads to why I don't want to do work right now... which is forcing me to write up a blog. I should get back to work; I just wanted to start this bad boy up. It's BLOGGING time..!!!
